Dr. Joann Massey is a clinical psychologist who has provided compassionate care in the Pensacola, Florida area since 1993. She specializes in helping patients emotionally adjust after illnesses, traumatic injuries, and medical diagnoses such as stroke, brain injury, dementia, spinal cord injury, and movement disorders including Parkinson’s and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).

Earning her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Florida Institute of Technology, Dr. Massey underwent intensive clinical training at Denver General Hospital (a Level 1 Trauma Center) with a focus in Rehabilitation Psychology. She is adept at guiding patients through the emotional upheaval of grief, anxiety, depression, memory issues, and anger after a life-altering, critical injury or diagnosis.

With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Massey is an expert in rehabilitation psychology. She takes a compassionate, interactive approach with patients, actively participating in disability support groups
and advocating for survivors and families.

Prior to her current role at East Hill Clinic, she was instrumental in patient care at West Florida Rehabilitation Institute, offering crucial assessment, educational resources, and emotional support to
patients and families.

As an educator, Dr. Massey has served as a faculty associate and adjunct instructor at the University of West Florida. Her expertise has also made her a sought-after speaker at numerous conferences and workshops.

Deeply committed to improving lives, Dr. Massey empowers patients emotionally to help them build resilience, manage challenges, and regain confidence in living a fulfilled life. Through her involvement with local advocacy groups and her role as a former site surveyor for the Florida Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program, she demonstrates her dedication to supporting patients beyond her practice.
